You...light up my life....

For those of you whom are my facebook friends, you know that we have no plans for this 3 day weekend and we are just fine with that schedule. It was mentioned earlier in the week by my dear hubby that we do some 'household' projects. Maybe work on the dining room that has been a project room for the past 2 years when we tore up the carpet and put down a tiled floor (really, who in their right mind puts WHITE carpet in a dinning room?)

So, Saturday morning we enticed the youngest two with a fun trip to Menards to look at wainscoting and molding.

Our intentions were good, we picked out what we liked, measured, measured again, found a cart to hold all the panels, and then started pulling out the panels........... then-we hit the road block. We needed 13 and Menards only had 8. Hmmm...... deciding that we didn't want to go forth without having everything we need, we pulled the plug.

Across the street, the lure of lunch at Arby's was pulling us in.........

While we were chomping away at our yummy roast beef sandwiches the conversation turned to..."Well, what now?" As luck would have it, a new Lowe's had just opened up the past week so an impromptu visit was next on the list.

We started in the bath section.......I almost had him convinced to purchase a new tub surround and make that our weekend project.

Then it went on to looking at their wainscoting.....no luck there.

Somehow we ended up on the lighting isle...... I was making odd suggestions of buying fancy chandeliers for the dining room, just trying to get a reaction out of him and livening up the afternoon. I'm pretty sure I had him convinced that I wanted some glass-tear drop-$760 chandelier when he spotted one that was more along the lines of what we really would like.

We both liked it, it was affordable and in our budget (mind you $40 and under is our budget for most things) and it fit our theme or the theme we hoped for in the dinning room. After a few minutes and talking about it, next thing ya knew it was in the cart and SOLD!

How the heck did we live with this for so long?

When we could have been living with this?

I know it doesn't look that great on a computer screen but in person, it adds a lot more to the room than that other thing that was hanging there.
Okay, long story about nothing I know. But-that's what this weekend is all about for us. A bunch of nothing turning into somethings. These kind of weekends/days make me realize that life goes by too fast. Having no plans and being at home with the ones you love doing whatever makes for the best memories.
