A tree for Gunner.....

Every year when we go out to pick out the Christmas tree, I joke how Gunner must think we are the best family ever to bring in  his own personal peeing tree inside the house.

He's never, in 7 years, peed on our tree.

Except for this year.

Good thing was that it was outside and laying on the sidewalk waiting to come in.  :)

Thanks for the baptism Gunner.

On another note...here are the two lumberjacks ready to find our perfect tree.

Logan LOVES to help. Seriously, this kid enjoys helping pick up Gunner poop. Nothing is not fun for him as long as he can help. 

So, here he is cutting our tree down.

He pretty much cut the whole thing down with some help from Kirby.

At the tree farm, the owner dresses up as Santa and gives the kids candy canes and does the Santa act.

It was good timing because we just told them that we had dinner with Santa last Tuesday night to discuss if they had been naughty or nice this year. (Logan wasn't too happy that Kirby and I were leaving them with a babysitter so I had to come up with something........the whole dinner with Santa made leaving much, much easier.  I love this time of year.)

Logan isn't too sure of Santa. Emma on the otherhand, is willing to talk to anyone. With some gentle nudging...and Daddy's hand, we got him to sit by Santa.

Today, Logan has his first performance.

And there isn't a cute enough word to describe how adorable it was.

I told his teacher that Logan sings like his Daddy.........Loud.

The flu bug......

Has bitten the Kirby Krew.

So much for making sure we all got our flu shots.

It started Tuesday afternoon with Emma.........followed by Logan Tuesday night.......followed by Mommy at 1am in the morning.

Kirby took a few days to feel the effects and is down with the sickness on Saturday.

I think getting sick on the weekend stinks!

But, on the positive side........it's a chance to snuggle, rest and watch lots of TV together.

It's a good time to slow down and enjoy the house you spend so much money on but never have the time to spend in it.

It's a good time to get re-acquainted with all the different kinds of chicken noodle soup Campbell's makes......Wow, I'm impressed!

It's also a good time to be thankful that it's just a silly flu that will last a few hours or days and that's it. 

I'm thankful for my healthy family on the days that we aren't so healthy.

Much ado about nothing.........

*Football is over. 7th grade basketball starts in about a month. In the meanwhile, I will enjoy having my time after work to head to the gym instead of picking up the kids. It will be short-lived but I'll take it.

*Tonight we had Emma's 1st grade conference. I can't tell you how awesome it is as parent to hear other adults tell you wonderful, nice things about your child.  I also feel very lucky that Emma attends a school in which we know every teacher and that in 5 years, she could have her Dad for a teacher. I told Kirby that part of me is jealous that he gets to see Emma in the hallway or at lunchtime and that in a few years, he will get to see both Logan and Emma at school.

*Winter is slowly coming....the trampoline is down, yard stuff is put away and it's getting dark early.  Don't tell but I've been listening to Christmas music at work. Shhhhhhhh.........

*Church is going well and starting to feel like home. The kids really enjoy Sunday school and I am thankful for the kind adults that give their Sunday mornings to teach our children while Kirby and I sit in peace and listen with no distractions.

*Financial Peace University is going well also. I'm learning so much and feel better knowing the things I know now to improve or finances for the next 5 years to build for the next 60 years.

*Thanks to all the people that serve our country in the military. Thanks to my honey for being a jarhead.

Halloween

This year Buzz Lightyear joined our household for Halloween.

When I first asked Logan what he wanted to be for Halloween, his answer was.... "a squirrel."

Now, I'm a pretty creative person and all but that answer had me a little bit scared as to how the heck I was going to make a costume that would make a 4 year old look like a squirrel.

Emma on the other hand........from day 1 knew she wanted to be a cowgirl.  I can handle that.

To infinity and beyond!!!!!!!

It was a fun night. Emma was a little more adventurous and willing to go to the scary houses, Logan was not into that at all.

We have lots of candy and good friends.......

What more could we ask for?

Hunting 101

A few weekends ago, Kirby took the kids out for a hunting adventure. I don't know all the stories and what was said or done but the pictures are cute and kind of tell their own tale. :)

All I do know is that I came home to find a raccoon tail and squirrel tail in a plastic bag on my living room floor.
