Pumpkin Carving and Halloween.

After our successful hunt for the perfect pumpkins a few weeks ago, it was now time to find the child safe knives and grab the adult knives and do some damage!

Emma was all about collecting the pumpkin seeds because at preschool the day before, the teachers had brought in the seeds and that was their snack for the day.  So, Emma was in charge of cleaning out her pumpkin (she didn't mind the gunk) and making sure that we all were putting the seeds in the bowl for later.

Logan, on the other hand, wasn't too sure about all the orange gunk that Daddy was pulling out.  He did enjoy holding a weapon and attempting to stick the pumpkin every once in awhile though.    He mostly just watched and learned.

I dug in and completed my pumpkin face in no time and then helped Emma design hers.  She had a notebook and pencil and showed me what kind of eyes, nose and mouth she wanted on her pumpkin.  I kindly obliged to her wishes.

The next night of course was Halloween.   A few weeks ago Emma had decided that she wanted to be a puppy dog so I naturally assumed that Logan would want to be one too.   I found some brown sweatsuits  that I could turn inside out and bought some fabric for the head and the ears and tails and in no time, we had 2 brown puppy dogs.

Trying to look like we all belonged together, I came up with the idea that the rest of us could dress up as the hunters and we could be a 'hunting party.'  It was easy to throw on some camouflage and even Tyler didn't grumble too much about dressing up for trick or treating.

Logan didn't want anything to do with his puppy dog costume of course, partly due to him not feeling very well the past couple of days.  But, after we convinced  him that he would get 'treats,' he stopped saying "don't want it" and pulling on his sweatshirt and went out the door with Daddy and Emma to the neighbors house with his orange pumpkin.  It only took one house and then boy oh boy he was on board!!    He lead the group most of the night telling Tyler to "come on Tyler" and "let's go" in a voice only a 2 year old can do.

It was a fun night and the kids got lots and lots of treats of course.    On the drive back home, one of our puppies was just doggone tired.....

Happy Halloween!
