"Point U"

Saturday was date night for Kirby and I and it was probably long overdue to be honest. I think that last time we were out by ourselves was around the middle of July? Anywho, I had decided a few weeks ago that I wanted to go and watch the UofM women's VB team play against Wisconsin. I LOVE watching the Gophers play and before Emma and Logan came along, Kirby and I attended quite a few matches and were almost regulars at the area.

Poppa Ray had volunteered to come up and watch Emma and Logan for us so Kirby and I could skirt the expense of having to find a babysitter and have to pay for a babysitter (which is quite spendy these days and trying to find a HS girl who is available on a Saturday night is quite challenging these days still.)

Kirby started off the date asking me which pair of jeans were his sexy jeans. Apparently a few weeks ago I had commented on a pair of his jeans and he thought that he needed to wear them again in order to be back on a college campus. :) Ha ha ha....

We left for the cities around 3ish and got to Roseville around 4 and decided to go and walk around the mall a bit before we went to Khan's for supper. The first comment we made when we walked in the doors to the mall that "Wow, we are alone! No strollers! Wahoo!"

For those of you who know Kirby well, shopping is not one of his favorite things to do but he just enjoys walking around holding my hand as I mentally go through my list of things that I'm in the hunt for. After a few stores, we decided that it was time for dinner and drove over to Khan's.

Khan's is a Mongolian buffet. You get to choose what kind of meat you want, your veggies and sauce and pile it all up in a bowl and then bring it over to the cooks. These guys are in charge of cooking your food right in front of you on big plate like grills. You can hit the gong and tip the Mexican cooks if you like. (the irony of it all)

Here's a sneak peak at our plates.

The food is good and I enjoy the odd atmosphere of Buddha's and 80's music.

Then it was off to the Gopher Game!
We got our tickets and Kirby decided that he wanted to take a look at the new Gopher Stadium. It's pretty impressive looking when you are standing across the street from it. The picture I took really doesn't do it justice.

We had AWESOME seats for the match. Top row of chairback seats and right on the isle so we could get up and get treats without too much interruption. I told Kirby that next year I was going to take Emma to as many games as I could. I mentioned that I would like season tickets but now that I think about it, maybe that can be a nice gift in the upcoming years when I won't have to worry about finding a babysitter for Logan. Emma is already starting to show interest in playing volleyball when we are outside in the backyard. She'll pick up a ball and either want me to toss it to her so she can set it or she will throw it up and attempt to serve it. College scholarship, I can see it now.......

The game was awesome! There's really not a bad seat in this area and the action is non stop (well, for us volleyball lovers I guess it's non stop action.) The blocking and defense that night was amazing and I felt that neither team really passed that well and that the offense on both sides was a step off. But, either way, it was still a fun match to watch. The Gopher's won in 4 sets and are now 2-0 in the conference. GO GOPHERS!

It was a fun and pretty inexpensive date night. I am hoping to get to another game yet this fall but....... we'll see I guess.

So, I would really have liked to come with you on your date! My hubby LOVES Kahn's and we go just about every year for his b-day and father's day! And I too LOVE Gopher volleyball. So much fun! Brings me back to my college days! Looks like it was a fun night! I might have to plan one like it.
