He's 4. We've known for a long time that he is an early riser - a morning person - ready to attack the day from the moment he lifts his head from the pillow. This day the alarm went off @ 7:00 a.m. and I slipped on a t-shirt to let Gunner out the door to redecorate the snow yellow. I nearly jumped through the roof when I turned around from the rush of cold air in the door to see Logan standing behind me.... "Good Morning Dad! When are we going?" ( I hadn't planned on waking the boys up until about 7:30 but Bear was going to make sure I didn't leave without him.)
First 2 bobbers down belonged to the shortest fisherman as he doubled up with Back to Back beautiful walleyes.
I do my best to include him in on as much of the adventure as his little heart can handle. He works hard. Shovels. Carries Gear. Asks questions. But all of this can be hard on a fella - Especially when you stay up an hour and a half past your bedtime the night before because you're so darn excited to hang out with guys.
The winds whip across the Big Lake like none other. But with a little spirit, a bright colored tennis ball and a good tuque, Bear managed to sneak in a little stick handling while the big guys loaded the truck for home.
Cousin Aaron, Tyler, Dad and Logan had a nice quick trip out to 5 Mile reef on LOTW for a memorable Holiday haul.
On the last morning of our visit North, I had to make good on a promise from long ago. As soon as Logan heard about Poppa Tom's new deer stand, he was adamant that he needed to get into the woods to check it out for himself. So, with his "heavy iron" under one arm and his trusty hound at his side, this 3 foot/4 year old trekked through some deep snow in temperatures that barely nipped into the double digits.
Although he can't see out of the windows without some assistance, Logan has officially put his stamp of approval on the Funnel Mansion. He did mention to me that he thought the steps were a little too small because his "boots don't fit on dem berry good."
Tyler is a big boy. A nice young man. He's registered some kills to put food on our table. Soon he'll be driving. He's caught more than one trophy fish. His morale compass is pointed "True North". For that I am proud and now I think I've found another "wing man" - my little Shadow Man.
