Trading Spaces......

I used to be a big fan of this show and often dreamed of finding the perfect neighbors/friends to go on this show with and have them re-do a room in my house to perfection.

But, I guess I got as close as I could this weekend as Kirby and I decided to finally tackle some projects that we have been putting off for the past year. So, Saturday, we took a trip to Menards with the kids.......

Here's what I learned this weekend:

1. Trying to pick out a paint color while trying to watch 2 kids isn't impossible, but it is awfully hard to concentrate on the million shades of yellow that are available and pick the one that is just right for your dinning room.

2. The indoor/outdoor play area's at Menards are a lifesaver!

3. Sometimes the project that sounds really easy to do in the store, isn't once you get home and open the box and the instructions.

4. Universal sizes don't apply to everything in your house! Especially if your house was built before 1950!

5. Painting is fun for the first 2 hours. Painting with your 4 year old in the room is fun for the first 5 minutes. Looking at the mess you just made cause you decided to paint isn't fun at all.

6. For those of you who are in the tax bracket that allows you to hire other people to do work in your home, be grateful. For those of you who are in that tax bracket that are the ones getting called to do this work- you are angels. For those of us who have to do it yourself-GOOD LUCK!

7. My desire to go on Trading Spaces is now gone.

Here's what I learned -
1.)My wife must really LOVE me. She married a guy that's not intimidated by LARGE animals but tremors at "do-it-yourself" easy does its...
2.) I must really love my wife, because I kept smiling and didn't get as steamingly frustrated as I have in the past.
3.) We've got good kids. They were pretty cute most of the weekend - even helpful at times.
